OUR NEW EUROPEAN UNION PROJECT LIFE TWO

OUR NEW EUROPEAN UNION PROJECT LIFE TWO

Katip Çelebi University and Private Denge Schools are participating as associated partners in the LIFE TWO project, supported by Brussels under the Erasmus+ Program.

When we fail to understand global interconnectedness, the increasingly complex cultural, social, and political context in which we live can lead to intercultural misunderstandings and conflicts, as we are currently experiencing in the EU regarding migration flows. We must equip young people with the correct concepts of intercultural dialogue as a tool to prevent conflict and foster reconciliation. Indeed, intercultural learning as a social and political goal promotes a worldview where people facilitate intercultural encounters, understand the potential of diversity, interact equally, question power relations, and actively participate in processes that will lead to a more just society.

The aim of the LIFE TWO Project is to invest in the development of intercultural skills and youth motivation skills of youth workers by promoting high-quality work and innovative methods to reach young people. It aims to convey the value systems developed by different religions and cultures in the fight against prejudice and hatred to students through education and intercultural dialogue.

The project is coordinated by Fondazione Hallgarten-Franchetti Centro Studi Villa Montesca from Italy. Project partners include: the Institute for Educational and Youth Studies Association (Turkey), Fundación Universidad San Jorge (Spain), CEI - Centre For Educational Initiatives (Bulgaria), Edra Scamg Social Cooperative Activities for Minority Groups (Greece), National University of Ireland Galway (Ireland), Edex - Educational Excellence Corporation Limited (Southern Cyprus), and Stichting Reflexion (Netherlands).

The educational institutions participating as related partners from Turkey are:

Izmir Katip Çelebi University and Özel Denge College.

As part of the project, 2 students and 1 teacher from our school will participate in a short-term training program in Villa Montesca, Italy, from May 16-20, 2022, alongside teachers and students from other countries.
