1- When will the exam be held?
The Central Exam will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2020.
2- Where can I apply for the exam, is there a fee?
Central Exam applications will be centrally processed by the Ministry for all 8th grade students, except for students studying in schools abroad that are not registered in the e-School system. Students whose applications are processed by the Ministry will not need to take any additional action for the exam application. Applications are free of charge.
3- Is it mandatory for all students to participate in the exam?
No, participation in the exam is not mandatory.
4- Where can I get the exam entrance document?
The photo exam entrance document will be obtained electronically by school principals from May 28, 2020 onwards, and will be delivered to the student after being stamped and approved.
5- Where can a student who loses their exam entrance document get a new one?
A student who loses their photo exam entrance document can obtain a new one from the principal of the school where they are studying. 6- What documents will be required from students when entering the exam?
• Students must bring a valid identity document and a photo-bearing, approved exam entry document with them when coming to the exam.
• In addition, those who do not have a valid identity document will be admitted to the exam with a temporary identity document/Turkish Republic identity card application document issued by the population registration offices, which is photo-bearing, signed,
sealed/barcoded/QR coded.
• According to the Turkish Ministry of Interior's Law No. 5490 on "Population Services and the Regulation on the Implementation of the Population Services Law," it is mandatory to have a photograph on identity cards/Turkish Republic identity cards from the age of 15 (fifteen).
7- How many central exam sessions are there, and what is their duration?
The exam consists of 2 (two) sessions. The first session, the verbal section, will be 75 minutes, and the second session, the numerical section, will be 80 minutes.
8- Which subjects are included in the sessions of the central exam, and what will the question distribution be like?
The first session of the central exam will include Turkish, Turkish Republic History and Atatürkism, Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge, and Foreign Language in the verbal field; the second session will include Mathematics and Science in the numerical field. The question distribution will be as follows:
First Session Verbal Field; Turkish 20 questions, Turkish Republic History and Atatürkism 10 questions, Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge 10 questions, Foreign Language 10 questions, a total of 50 questions,
Second Session Numerical Field; Mathematics 20 questions, Science 20 questions, a total of 40 questions. 9- What will the exam duration be for students who are exempt from the Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge test?
The total exam duration for students who are exempt from the Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge test in the verbal session (first session) will be 60 minutes. 10- Where will the exam results be announced?
Central Examination results will be announced on July 1, 2020, at https://www.meb.gov.tr. Exam result certificates will not be sent to students by mail.
11- Schools are on holiday, what topics will the exam questions cover?
For each subject area, questions will be based on the 8th grade courses, covering the topics and learning outcomes completed by the end of the first semester of the 2019-2020 academic year. These questions will measure students' reading comprehension, interpretation, conclusion drawing, problem-solving, analysis, critical thinking, scientific process, and similar skills.
12- Has the number of schools admitting students through exams been increased?
Yes, the number of schools was 1,526 in 2019. For 2020, the number of schools has increased to 1,856. This represents a 21.62% increase in the number of schools.
