Exam Anxiety

Exam Anxiety

Exam anxiety refers to the intense anxiety that prevents a student from effectively using the knowledge they have learned before the exam during the exam itself, due to certain reasons, and leads to a decline in their performance.

Causes of Exam Anxiety

1. Lifestyle-related causes

  • Not getting enough rest
  • Lack of sleep
  • Inability to use time correctly and effectively
  • Lack of/insufficient physical activity
  • Unbalanced diet

2. Physical reactions caused by anxiety that deviate from normal functioning

‘My heart is pounding as if it will jump out of my chest.’

‘My head is spinning, my vision is blurring, my breathing is shallow, I am sweating, my hands or body are shaking.’

‘I feel nauseous, my stomach hurts constantly.’

Methods for Coping with Anxiety Levels

The most fundamental method for coping with exam anxiety is positive self-talk.

If you want to reduce your anxiety level, you must first become aware of your negative thoughts.

The moment you decide, saying, “I WANT TO DO IT, I CAN DO IT, AND I WILL DO IT,” you begin to concentrate.
